My child struggles with reading and spelling.
What programs do you use? Do you teach them separately?

Learning to speak is a natural development for a your child.  Learning to read and write is not. Children do NOT necessarily 'pick up' the reading process unless explicit instruction is given.

The Sounds~Write program teaches children to read and spell by ensuring they listen to the sounds first and then to blend them together.  It is a highly structured program, has proven results and is recommended by the Dyslexia SPELD Foundation (WA) as a highly successful intervention program. Unlike other programs that only teach reading or only teach spelling, the Sounds-Write program teaches both simultaneously.  Because of all these reasons, this is the program used.
